Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief - a fun film for the kids and the family. Pretty special effects, pretty actors and very pretty colours. The pacing doesn't let up, and because of this there is a definite lacking in content. However, it fulfilled everything I wanted from it; fun, silly and pretty.

Are the female characters totally minimized? *worried look*

As I haven't read the books I can't say just how much more of a presence they had in comparison to the film.

Annabeth have much screen time, and saves the heroes a few times, but they seemed to have sacrificed her competence to show off how awesome Percy is.

I'm trying to think of any other female character that actually mattered... um, Percy's mum had about 10 mins of screen time?

The Ares House leader girl? Who is rough tough n' mean?

Annabeth without competence? Bah. Looks like I'm crossing another movie off the list. *sigh*

Thanks.

... There was meant to be a girl in the Ares House?

Um, no. Annabeth is competent, but there are parts in it that just didn't click, and felt like a way for the director to make the Hero awesome.

No probs.
