My Chemical Romance

So, um. I might have accidentally listened to some My Chemical Romance, and the next thing I know I'm adding their albums to my Amazon wishlist and attempting to get download of their music because Amazon delivery will take months to get to me. They are surprisingly not what I expected. As in they are actually really good and talented. I'm not a huge fan of their first album (some awesome songs though) but their later stuff HIT every button I have.

Um - suggestions and/or recs for music of similar vein would be greatly appreciated. (Or you know, downloands and stuff).

(I cannot believe how much I like their stuff - it is less punk and more rock, which is completely not what I expected. There is a sense of Epic-ness to their music that is really reminiscent of vintage rock that makes me really happy!).

After watching 72 Tenants of Prosperity, I've been obsessively downloading and listening to Jacky Cheung's ballads.

The radio here is also playing Tokio Hotel's newest single to death, which I like enough to eventually get around to checking out their stuff - after my Jacky Cheung binge. =P

Also, it wasn't until many, many airplays later that I realised this other song I'd been enjoying was Adam Lambert's Whataya Want From Me. It's surreal walking into a local cd store and seeing his album on the stands. Have they started selling it in OZ?

It freaked the hell out of me when i saw Adam Lambert's Whataya Want From Me on Australian tv. Like, OMFG! WHUT?! Unsure whether his album is on sale over here, but he has been making the publicity rounds on OZ tv.

Jacky Cheung is pretty awesome. But at the moment all I WANT is more MCR. I have heard of Tokio Hotel, but have no idea who are? Aren't they like a German band or something?

If you're after kind-of-epic rock, I have 30 Seconds to Mars' album from last December. Um, it sounds kind of like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPytEJIK0CA

But I never really managed to get into MCR - the vocals just don't suit my taste. Some of the songs on The Black Parade were quite cool. Despite my, er, bandom-reading tendencies. But, if you want any other bandom bands, like Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy....

Oh, I have seen them on tv before. There just isn't enough of a beat (or enough bass) for me to get into them.

I think one of the reasons I like MCR is their ridic bass, and the drummer! The vocals is surprising OK with me, though most of the first album still makes me cringe at times.

I have heard of Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy but have no idea who they and what they sing. I shall go and look them up.

Thanks!

Fair enough! It's definitely more on the "epic concept album" scale rather than "heart-thumping bass".

Um. Well, I have some bad news about the drummer...

I like DragonForce! Heavy bass and awesome drums are kind of one my major loves in the rock music genera.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WTF?! OK, now I have to wiki the band and figure out who the rest of them are.

When you start reading up about MCR, you discover that despite their dark aesthetic, they are all giant dorks. Particularly Gerard Way. I kind of love that, despite not being into their music.
