Alas, I am one of those few very strange people that never got into the Stargate thing. Don't judge me too harshly.

I can understand. However, if you do not vote on the Star Wars poll (it is coming), we may have to re-examine out lj-friendship (^_-).

*gigglesnort* Oh, I have views on Star Wars (and Indiana Jones if you do a poll on those films).

You forgot Stargate Infinity!

Though not having seen it I have no opinion of it. So in ascending order my preference are:

4. Stargate. It's a bit dated now and according to the Internet James Spader took the role because he thought the script was awful. At least it's not as bad as Alien Hunter...

3. Atlantis. Except for a couple of episodes (Thirty-eight Minutes, Grace Under Pressure and Echoes to name a few) I couldn't really stand a lot of it, some of which had me cringing at how bad it is.

2. Universe. Haters to the left. While the Earth-Destiny bodyswap (though never genderswap...) episodes can get a bit bogged down, I liked the series because it stepped away from SG-1 formula that was heavily rinse-repeated in Atlantis and for the Matt-Chloe-Eli love triangle. Also PHYSICS!

1. Stargate Classic (SG-1). Because. Peaked at Season 7 Finale/Season 8 Opening. Reason for all science fiction series' now being exclusively filmed in the forests of British Columbia. Rescue boat for Andromeda and Farscape actors. Highlights include Window of Opportunity, The Fifth Race and Lost City/New Order.

And what of the made for DVD movies?

To be fair I think most of fandom have decided to forget about Infinity.

4. It WAS HIRRFICLY bad script, but James Spaders makes the world better, and it is still the best thing abou the whole Stargate universe.

3. I liked the first season (which I think is all the eps you have stated), the second season made me cringe and barring from a few mins I have not seen the rest of hte series.

2. I don't even hate it anymore, I'm just completely indifferent to it. I don't even remember their names - I usually call them by fat-boy, square-jaw, blond chick, chick who looks like River, etc.

1. I think SS1 had some amazing stories to tell - I watched it pretty much religiously the first 3 or 4 seasons and then it got me back into it kicking and screaming for Season 8 and buts of 9 because OMFG! The chance to have Black and Browder on my screen again, even if they weren't Aeryn and John made it slightly better. I'd give the honour of X-Files utilising BC the best, way before SG1.

I don't tend to think of them as separate franchises, as it is usually SG1 specific, thus, I put them under SG1 continuity.
