BBC Sherlock Holmes - Unaired Pilot

Dear BBC,

Thank you for ordering three 90mins episode of Sherlock Holmes as opposed to the 60mins unaired pilot. The former is brilliant while the latter is rather lackluster and blend. It is amazing what a bigger budget will give you – better set design, better camera, hell, better wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong - Benedict in skinny jeans looked rather hot, but you know, the Dolce wearing Sherlock is something I will take any day.

Please keep up with the budget because I swear the quality of this show is really closely linked with the money.

Cheers,
Naanima

Yes – I have seen the ‘unaired’ 60mins pilot. The kept much of the dialogue, but I have to say the changes the actors made in the delivery of lines between the unaired ep and the new pilot is fricking amazing. And yeah – thank you BBC for the money.

I suppose the other question is, how did it get online if it was 'unaired'?

The shirt is.

The coat is $1,500, and I can't remember the exact label.

Sherlock Holmes' outfits are very expensive.

It's a Belstaff! One of those uber-Brit clothing brands, Lord Peter Wimsey era motoring togs. (Or Ewan McGregor era motoring togs, even. XD It was eventually purchased by Italians who aggressively pursued a Hollywood strategy.)

The pilot isn't the same director, is it? IMO dude made a lot of difference.

I'm pretty sure Paul McGuigan filmed the first and third ep of the series, and yep, the second ep and the original pilot were filmed by two other directors. You are so right, the choice of director made a huge difference, but honestly, the set design, costume and camera made a huge difference. The original interior of 221B makes me kind of cringe - it was so pink/orange-ish, and the whole thing just looked very 80s setting.

So glad they got more funding.

The CLOTHES! I really need to read some Lord Peter Wimsey books. the MORTORING TOGS are awesome!
