Doctor Who - 605 to 607

If I ever get a tattoo it will be the Doctor’s name in Gallifreyan. It is so pretty.

CALLED IT as soon as ep 3 aired. That whole river in a forest thing the TARDIS kept on repeating was pretty damn obvious. Also, as soon as Amy named the baby Melody Pond I was like, OMFG! And then the soldier girl gave Amy the leaf with the baby's name on it, and I was like, you know, in certain cultures surname COMES first, so like Pond Melody is pretty damn close to River Song.

But you know, despite knowing it, the whole scene between River and the Doctor was utterly gut-wrenching. Yes, I know there was joy, but by the gods, see it from River’s POV, it must have sucked so very much. I LOVE River, just all the ways she calls on the Doctor’s bullshit, the way she lays it clear as day why species fear him, how what he is can no longer be reconciled with what he was. How the Doctor’s name is synonymous with war. I fucking love it.

Just guys, I love River Song so very much, and it sucks because she will never get her happy ending because she can’t. The question is – just how much of a Time Lord is she? Obviously enough to regenerate, at least once, extremely strong for another. However, still human enough to have limited regenerations, maybe? I mean River’s death in season 4 doesn’t negate the fact she is a Time Lord, 10 couldn’t have survived it, but, if she is a Time Lord, why CAN’T the Doctor tell on sight? Why can’t he feel her? QUESTIONS!

Oh, and I’m putting money down now that she also shot the Doctor in the season 6 opener. Unless, that’s a red herring and she kills Rory instead. Maybe that will explain Moffatt’s desire to kill off Rory so often.

OK, what is it with the RED balloons, it is EVERYWHERE!
  • Season 3 Human Nature / The Family of Blood, Daughter of Mine had a red balloon

  • Season 5, Amy’s wedding, The Big Bang

  • Season 6, the TARDIS’ message, The Doctor’s Wife, Crimson, eleven, delight

  • Season 6, the Doctor with the red balloon and the other two in The Almost People

  • Season 6, the Doctor dressed as a clown holding onto a red balloon sometime in the future

AND – this is only in relation to the TV show, apparently red balloons make appearances in the comics and such.

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?!

THEORIES?

HAHAHA! That makes much more sense now.

But isn't it glorious?

But man, Moffat has this huge thing about painting the Doctor as the 'Enemy', well, at least to the rest of the universe. Also, there is this distinctive hike in deaths during this season of Doctor Who.

The question is - does River kill the Doctor, or did she kill Rory?

I'm kind of annoyed by the mid-season finale. Having River Song be Amy's daughter just seems like terrible writing to me. Also I reckon it's one of the cheapest episodes they've ever shot. It was all shot in essentially a single location and as far as I can recall there were no Tardis interior shots at all. Aside from the headless monks, all the other aliens are reused costumes and almost all the CGI is just reused assets (ugh the spitfires...).

I didn't mind River Song as Amy's daughter, mainly because it seemed to me that's what they have been aiming for since the end of season 5. Sure, no surprises, and I wish they had made the whole thing a bit more fluid, but I can deal with the choppiness because I love River.

As for the cheapness of it - I admit that I really didn't mind. I'm sort of used to DW being cheap, hell, I'm still surprised when their special effects looks semi-decent. So, not complaints from me!

What did bug me? All the allies that the Doctor picked up. Why couldn't he have picked up people we actually cared about? Instead it was kind of a rag-tag team of people I wasn't really that excited to see and instead just felt like a complete waste of fricking time.
