At one point, I decided that Aang was a boy because if the Avatar were a girl, the Combined Sheer Awesome (see also: Toph. And Katara, tidal wave expert) would explode the television set. ...I'd better buy insurance for the computer I watch this on!!!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEE!

AGREED! I think what blew away about the original series was the SHEER AWESOMENESS of EVERY woman on the show. It was fricking brilliant and just so amazing. I LOVED EVERY ONE OF THEM. And it was so amazing to realise (as I watched the series) that, OMFG! The GIRLS are kind of, consistently, 100 times more awesome than the guys on this show. It was brilliant.

It is going to be brilliant, and I will JUDGE all American cartoons against it. Hell, I pretty much judge all American cartoon against the first Avatar series as it is.

Though Uncle Iroh was pretty awesome. (Less for the "yeah, yeah, extremely powerful firebender" part, and more for just being... Iroh.) And... Hm. Most of the White Lotus commanders (aka "Old Guys") were pretty decently cool?

Old people and women, both awesome. Stick that in the "only young men get to have adventures" craw, ha! (Fortune-teller gal and scary PTSD old woman were also pretty awesome, frankly... >_> ) And not much need for awesome "at the expense of each other" scenes, either, as I recall?

The Airbender series is, indeed, something to judge every American cartoon against!

I must admit, I'm looking forward to finding out What Happened To Everyone We Know.

I just showed this to my kid, with her sitting in my lap, and she just went, "EEEEE!" and nearly strangled me. GLUCK! O:D

That is so cool. Just - gods, I'm so glad there is a cartoon with kick-ass female characters and leads that little girls can identify with. I mean I had She-Ra as a kid, but I have to admit Avatar is way more cooler than She-Ra.

So very awesome.

I was old enough, when I encountered She-Ra, to be full of adolescent scorn -- her hair got longer and more grabbable, her tights turned into a pantie-flashing miniskirt, and she still had those dadgum high heels! (I had high heels. I did not do acrobatics in them.) Alas! I missed out on anything good with She-Ra, because, well... I had books that were better. >_>

And I totally agree about Avatar. Korra does not look like someone who would suffer high heels. Ever.

(I was looking at the Avatar wiki -- it looks like they are having totally no romantic subplot whatsoever for Korra and Aang-descended people! They not only dodged that Obvious And Slightly Dodgy Plot Thread, but tied it to cement blocks and sank that sucker! After my double-take, I am highly pleased with this!)

(Have you seen the link that http://lizbee.dreamwidth.org/1141139.html links to? ...probably, but more and more bouncysquee and stuff. Also, they are totally tormenting the audience.)

Exactly.

Just everything about this trailer is amazing.

I think I have been waiting for something like this since She-Ra.
